An IAG Success Story for an ex offender
An experienced driver and warehouse operative Alex found his life turned around when he was convicted and sentenced.  Not only did he lose his job, and the income it provided, he also lost his driving licence and perhaps most importanly his self-worth.  His confidence hit rock bottom.
Carter and Carter provided him with information to ensure that he received the correct benefits as an ex offender, but  also they helped Alex start to re-look at who he was and what he might do.  They helped him write an up to date CV and Alex was overjoyed at how well he portrayed himself.  He was then assessed (at level 1) and enrolled with learndirect on a literacy and numeracy course.  This was the first time Alex had taken up any form of education since leaving school and in just five week his took his level 2 exam.
The change in Alex has been noticeable and he is now looking to enrol in mainstream college this September (07) for a full time course in construction.
On presenting Alex with his Key award his learndirect tutor said "Alex is a wonderfully bright lad and a pleasure to work with".  Carter and Carter who provided Alex with his information, advice and guidance (IAG) said 'it's people like Alex that create my job satisfaction - I hope he goes all the way'
