Ian's Story

IanI’m doing English, Maths and IT. I attended school, had a private tutor for two years, and then I went into work. I worked for 18 years then I retired, I had to retire through ill health.

Then two months later I’m not doing anything sitting at home, I want to do something with my life so I went back to college. I was doing bakery work, working in bakeries. When I left work, I was doing nothing really and I found it hard, you know. After being in a job like that, getting up at certain times, your body does the same things. I was nervous when I went back, thinking it would be like school. The tutor gave us all of the work and I knew it would be good for us, so I did three, English, maths and IT. Since I've been here its been brilliant, I love going in.

Well, the environment is really friendly and everyone tries to help each other. And if you are finding it hard, you’re stuck, they’ll come and help you out and tell you how to do the job. The tutors are brilliant, they are really good, they will give you time. Then and there, they will give you, you know, time. They have time for you. The tutors have enough time for you.
